    Ph.D. Students

  1. Arkan Alkamil (Ph.D. in May 2021), Title of the Dissertation is "Dynamic Reconfigurable Architectures to Improve Performance and Scalability of Cryptosystems on Embedded Systems". This research work has led to 2 journal publications and 2 conference publications (2 under review). He was the recipient of the "Mentored Doctoral Fellowship" in 2020-21. Arkan is an excellent student. He was taking care of his family, throughout his PhD journey. I am very proud of his accomplishments. He is currently working at the IBM in New York.
  2. Srikanth Ramadurgam (Ph.D. in May 2021), Title of the Dissertation is "Optimized Embedded Architectures and Techniques for Machine Learning Algorithms for On-Chip AI Acceleration". This research work has led to 2 journal publications and 2 conference publications (2 under review). He was the recipient of the recipient of the "Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA)" from Fall 2016 to Spring 2018, and the recipient of the "Mentored Doctoral Fellowship" and "Graduate Research Fellowship"in 2018-19. He is currently working at the Xilinx.
  3. Anne K. Madsen (Ph.D. in December 2020), Title of the Dissertation is "Optimized Embedded Architectures for Model Predictive Control Algorithms for Battery Cell Management Systems in Electric Vehicles". This research work has led to 3 journal publications and 1 conference publications (2 under review). She was the recipient of the "Mentored Doctoral Fellowship" in 2016-17. Anne is indeed an excellent student. She has been working full time and taking care of her family, throughout her PhD journey. I am very proud of her accomplishments. Anne is the recipient of the "Outstanding PhD Student Award" in 2020-21. She is currently working at the SpaceForce, Air Force Research Lab in Colorado Springs.
  4. Seyed Navid Shahrouzi (Ph.D. in December 2018), Title of the Dissertation is "Optimized Embedded and Reconfigurable Hardware Architectures and Techniques for Data Mining Applications on Mobile Devices", This research work has led to 3 journal publications and 4 conference publications. He was the recipient of the "Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA)" from June 2015 to May 2018. He was also a recipient of the "Mentored Doctoral Fellowship" and "Graduate Research Fellowship"in 2015-16. Navid was an outstanding student, and I am really proud of his accomplishments. Navid is also the recipient of the "Outstanding PhD Student Award" in 2018-19. He currently works as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at the "Infineon Technologies" (formally known as "Cypress Semiconductors Inc.") in Colorado Springs.

  6. David Abillar (M.Sc. in May 2024), Title of the Thesis is "An FPGA-Based Linear Kalmann Filter for a Two-Phase Buck Converter Application", David did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option. He currently works as an Engineer at Analog Devices, in Colorado Springs.
  7. Jeremy Graf (M.Sc. in May 2022), Title of the Thesis is "Optimizing Density-Based Ant Colony Stream Clustering Using FPGAs", Jeremy did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option. Jeremy is the recipient of the "Outstanding MSEE Student Award" in 2021-22. He currently works as an FPGA Design Engineer at a Company in Colorado Springs.
  8. Jordi Perera Miro (M.Sc. in May 2020), Title of the Thesis is "FPGA-based Accelerators for Convolutional Neural Networks on Embedded Devices", Jordi did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option. He currently works as an Engineer at an Embedded Systems Company in Spain.
  9. Laura Homet Garcia (M.Sc. in December 2019), Title of the Thesis is "An FPGA-Based Hardware Accelerator for Sequence Alignment by Genetic Algorithm", Laura did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option. She currently works as an Engineer at the Algo-Logic FPGA company in San Jose.
  10. Mokhles Mohsin (M.Sc. in December 2017), Title of the Thesis is "An FPGA-Based Hardware Accelerator for K-Nearest Neighbor Classification for Machine Learning", Mokhles did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option, and currently works as an Electrical Engineer in an Oli Company. This research work has led to an IEEE Conference paper publication, and received the "Best Poster Paper Award". Mokhles is the recipient of the "Outstanding MSEE Student Award" in 2017-18.
  11. Mong Tee Sim (M.Sc. in May 2017), Title of the Thesis is "Interoperability between Operating Systems and Microprocessors on Embedded Platforms", Mong did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option, and currently works as a Principal Engineer at Cobham Semiconductors and Space Solutions.
  12. Ramprasad Raghavan (M.Sc. in May 2016), Title of the Thesis is "A Fast and Scalable Hardware Architecture for K-Means Clustering For Big Data Analysis", Ram did the M.Sc. Thesis Research Option, and currently works as an IC Design Engineer at Google in San Fransico, Bay Area. This research work has led to an IEEE Conference paper publication.
